A Simple Method of Preparative Electrophoresis

Newton Ressler 1 and Ramon R. Joseph 1

1 Department of Medicine, Wayne County General Hospital, Eloise, Mich.

A method of preparative electrophoresis is described. A volume of approximately 1 ml. of protein solution can be applied with the cell used. A "marker" solution, applied adjacent to the sample to be separated, indicates the positions of the protein bands during the migration. The procedure has the advantages of a high degree of recovery, simplicity of operation, and utilization of an electrophoretic cell which can also be applied to other electrophoretic procedures.
