Formaldehyde Interference with the o-Toluidine Procedure for Glucose

Formaldehyde, in the quantities normally used to preserve uric acid—gluose reference quality-control solutions, interferes with glucose analysis of these solutions by the o-toluidine procedure. This effect is enhanced by the uric acid present and is observed with other aldehydes.
