Errors as great as 15% of rated volume occurred in the first sample dispensed from a piston-actuated microliter pipet when disposable polypropylene tips were used. We recommend prerinsing the tip before it is used to dispense either aqueous or nonaqueous solutions, to obviate these possible errors.
