Alpha- and Beta-Lipoprotein Cholesterol

Method of Rapid Quantitative Determination

F. S. Nury 1 and Elizabeth R. B. Smith 1

1 Department of Pharmacology, Walter Reed Army Institute of Research, Walter Reed Army Medical Center, Washington, D. C.

The procedure of Langan, Durrum, and Jencks (1) for the estimation of serum alpha- and beta-lipoprotein cholesterol has been simplified, and the time required for an analysis greatly reduced.

The present method can be used for the rapid measurement of total serum cholesterol as well as for distribution between alpha- and beta-lipoproteins.
